Putting the green to bed

The President, Captains and Green Keeper would like to thank all of club members who volunteered to put the green and flower tubs to bed for the winter. Whether it was wielding heavy machinery, riding shotgun on the low loader to keep it level, or wielding a brush and shovel, the volunteers were brilliant as always and made the task easy and fun.

LENNOX CHILDREN'S CANCER FUND - CHARITY DAY 18 September 2022

Banana Man, alias Simon Edwards, our weekend captain, oversaw a fun afternoon of bowls, good food and great company to raise £620 for the Lennox Children's Cancer Fund charity. Simon thanks all the bowlers and supporters for their hard work in making the day so successful and their amazing generosity.

Thames Valley League Finals

As a break from our own finals, on Sunday 11th September we were well represented in the Thames Valley Bowls Association Finals held at Iver Heath .

The day started brilliantly, with Jeff Jacobs and David Orr winning the Men’s Pairs against Egham in the morning match; the first time our club’s name will be on this trophy. Unfortunately, we suffered very close defeats in the Men’s Double Rink Final to Egham, and Bob Matthews lost by one shot in the Men’s Singles Final. In both matches, we led until late in the game, before dropping shots in the final few ends.

It is always disappointing to lose, but as a smallish club, we should take great credit from reaching these finals and competing hard against clubs with much a larger membership.

The Club President Jeff Jacobs and weekend Captain Simon Edwards are most grateful to the number of members who came to Iver Heath to cheer our players on Sunday; your support was very much appreciated.

Winning by 10 shots over two hard fought matches, Richings Park hands back the wooden spoon to Iver Heath at last!

As always, both games were played in a wonderful spirit, with much banter and great fun

Cyprus Trip 2021

Once again a number of intrepid bowlers, along with two interlopers from Iver Heath Bowls Club, coped with Covid red tape and several lateral flow test to once again descend upon the island of Cyprus for a week of bowls, fun, good food and great company. The bowlers had a wonderful time and came back tanned rested, and

a few pounds heavier!!!

Regretfully we did not have any photographs available this year, however Club Captain Simon Edwards would like to thank the members for their generosity in raising £320 for this worthy cause. We had a fun packed afternoon where all matches were played in a great spirit followed by a wonderful buffet supplied by club members.
